Prevalence of Infidelity in Canada

Investigation Hotline’s team of experienced private detectives routinely investigate cases of infidelity across Canada. Clients trust us to surveil and provide clear and indisputable proof of suspected infidelious activities. Although we understand that cheating is a common occurrence, we were curious to find out how prevalent this behaviour is amongst Canadians. To do so, we connected our subjective experience with quantitative data.

According to a poll conducted by Mainstreet Research for Postmedia News after the breach of Ashley Madison’s data, 22% of Canadians have seriously considered cheating on their partner. 10% of Canadians admit to having cheated on their significant other, with more men than women admitting to this behaviour. Thirteen percent of males and eight percent of females admitted to infidelity, and 23% of men and 20% of women have seriously considered committing the act.

How does our society define cheating? It seems that Canadians, for the most part, agree as to what constitutes cheating. When individuals disagree on the definition, it is mainly among gender lines. 17% of females believe that watching pornography is cheating compared to 9% of males.

The most commonly agreed upon definition of adultery is the act of having sex with someone other than your partner. Interestingly, six percent of Canadians do not believe sleeping with another individual is considered cheating, with eight percent believing the same when a prostitute is involved.

How do Canadians stack up against the rest of the world when it comes to infidelity? Here are a few worldwide statistics that shed light on the issue:

  • 41% of married individuals admit to committing physical or emotional infidelity.
  • 57% of men admit to cheating in a past relationship.
  • 54% of women admit the same behaviour.
  • 22% of married men have strayed at least once during their marriage.
  • 14% of married women admit similar behaviour.
  • 36% of individuals admit to having had an affair with a colleague.
  • 35% of people admit to cheating on a business trip.
  • 17% of men and women admit to committing adultery with either their brother-in-law or sister-in-law.
  • 74% of men admit that they’d have an affair if they knew they’d never get caught.
  • 68% of women admit to a similar thought process.
  • The average length of an affair is two years.
  • 2.5% of children are conceived during an affair.

I called Investigation Hotline when I was at my wit's end with someone I had hired and paid to fix my backyard. For weeks and weeks this person kept promising to come but never showed up, yet refused to give back my deposit. When I talked to Gabriel, he didn't hesitate to offer his help. He called this person up and right after, I got a text that he is coming tomorrow to give me my money back. I would highly recommend Investigation Hotline Canada Inc. if you need help - there are still good people in this world.

A serious error in judgment on my behalf has put me at risk of ID theft. During a phone call I supplied personal info to someone who I believed was with Revenue Canada. Immediately after I realized I had fallen for the CRA scam. Shame on me!  Since the incident I've been frantically taking steps to fend off the dire repercussions that such a mistake can have. This has included: Filing a police report, Filing a report with the Canada Anti Fraud center, Adding flags to my bank accounts, Putting up Fraud alerts on the 2 main credit bureau's. I've even purchased some Identity theft tracker software to monitor my info. I contacted Investigation hotline to see if there was any additional measures I could take. The agent applauded me on the steps I had already taken. They also had knowledge about the CRA phone scam itself that helped settle my nerves somewhat. With all the fear and anxiety I've been enduring for the last while it was assuring to speak with someone familiar with the actual risk potential.

Apr 02, 2018 I needed an investigator on Sunday Easter Week End. No one cared about the situation except this Company. The investigator was dispatched to the location without minutes. did not care about the Money to be prepaid or secured. The investigator took it personal. He felt of my situation and Specially when it came to my kids issues. My Ex-wife was cheating in a hotel north east of Toronto. He Located her within 1/2 Hour. This a true story; I never thought Investigator cared about the situation but the money.. This company did not care about the money, they finished the job, send me the invoice and i Paid him more than what he asked for. Sometimes money does not mean any thing to some one wants to get a load off his back and find the truth about his wife,,,, FOR SURE THIS COMPANY TOOK A HUGE LOAD OFF MY BACK. THANK YOU SO MUCH JOE MICHIGAN
