Computer Detailing

Computer Detailing can be used to explain the current state of a computer system, a storage medium or an e-document. Computer investigations and analysis techniques allow the computer forensic specialist to gather evidence which can be presented in a court of law.

Our Private Investigators utilize computer forensic techniques to examine computer systems in order to recover data in the event of a hardware or software malfunction to gather evidence to assist in an ongoing investigation. We use computer forensics for scenarios such as computer crime or misuse, theft of trade secrets, theft of or destruction of intellectual property (IP) and fraud. Our Private Investigators have tried and true methods to capture computer system data and recover deleted, encrypted and/or damaged file information.

Handheld Device Analysis

The area of digital forensics has grown rapidly, mainly due to the increased trend in mobile devices. The increased usage of small scale digital devices like cellular phones has led to the development of mobile device analysis. With the growth of emerging portable data and storage devices, necessary information can be stored anywhere and easily passed from device-to-device. Hand-held device analysis involves the recovery of text messages (SMS), call history, contacts, photos and videos from cell phones and other hand-held digital devices in order to aid in the course of an investigation.

Our digital forensic team has the knowledge and abilities to obtain data successfully on hand-held communication devices that can produce key evidence, including email, call logs, images, passwords, videos, documents and text messages (SMS). We also have the capabilities to re-create deleted SMS messages and call logs from cell phones in order to identify essential information and save time and costs.

As PDA’s, cell phones and other handheld devices incorporate new technologies for communications and data storage, they will continue to become known as sources of additional evidence in criminal and civil investigations. As the use of these hand-held devices increase, additional evidence and information can be found that could potentially be essential to investigations.

Data Recovery

Data recovery is the process of retrieving data from damaged, failed or infected storage media. Our digital forensic investigators can recover data from storage media such as hard disk drives, CD’s, DVD’s and other electronics as well as retrieve files that have been deleted. We will work with the client to determine how/why the data is missing and to recover and restore the information that has been lost.

Our digital forensic investigators are also capable of recovering/resetting passwords for operating systems, emails, IM’s, etc. so that the protected contents can be accessed. The benefits of a password recovery service include gaining access to a system, helping a user recover a forgotten password, or for preventive measures in order to check for easily accessible passwords. Password recovery can also be used to gain access to digital evidence – ie; where a judge has allowed access, but the file’s access has been restricted.
