Fact #20 Clyde Wilson – Seven Children and a Successful Detective Career

Clyde Wilson (1923 – 2008) was an American private investigator known for his ability to solve complex cases.

Marla Maple & Donald Trump Investigation

Wilson’s most notorious case involved tracking down the love nest of Marla Maples, which ultimately led to an adultery allegation that destroyed Donald Trump’s first marriage. Wilson’s skills proved that even billionaires were not immune to his tracking abilities.

Wilson was sentenced to two years of probation

Despite his success as a detective, Clyde Wilson had a run-in with the law when he was indicted in 1973 for illegally wiretapping employees of Hunt Oil Co. while working for Dallas oilmen Nelson and Herbert Hunt. Though he pleaded not guilty, Wilson was sentenced to two years of probation. However, in 1977, President Gerald Ford granted Wilson a pardon, citing the determination by federal authorities that Wilson was not guilty.

Despite this incident, Wilson remained one of the best detectives in Texas, with a career spanning over 30 years. He was married on one woman and had 7 children.
